Terms of Service

Last updated 17 August 2026

These terms cover your use of Connect3 — the app, the event pages and the club console. They also set out who you are actually buying from when you book a ticket, which is the club running the event rather than us.

Who we are

Connect3 is operated by [TODO: registered legal entity name], ABN [TODO: ABN], of Data Science Student Society, Mailbox 12, Level 4, Building 168, University of Melbourne VIC 3010(“Connect3”, “we”, “us”). We run Connect3 on a not-for-profit basis: the platform exists to make university clubs easier to find and easier to run, and any surplus goes back into running it rather than to owners.

Connect3 is a platform. Clubs, societies and other organisations use it to publish events, sell tickets and manage memberships. We are not the organiser of those events, and we are not the merchant of record for the tickets sold to them.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account, buying a ticket, or otherwise using Connect3 you agree to these terms. If you are using Connect3 on behalf of a club, you confirm you are authorised to bind that club, and “you” means both you and the club.

We may change these terms as the platform changes. Where a change materially affects you we will tell account holders before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and continuing to use Connect3 after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Your account

Connect3 is built for university students, staff and the clubs they run. You need an account to save events, carry a membership pass or manage a club, and you must give accurate details when you create one — several features, including member-only ticket tiers, depend on your university and membership records being right.

  • Keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Do not create an account for someone else or impersonate anyone.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.

Acceptable use

Connect3 is a shared space for a university community, and the rules are the obvious ones. You must not:

  • post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • misrepresent an event, a club, or your affiliation with either;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-extract data from the platform, or attempt to work around rate limits and access controls;
  • interfere with the platform's operation, probe it for vulnerabilities, or use it to distribute malware;
  • use tickets or membership passes fraudulently, including reselling tickets in breach of the organising club's terms.

We may remove content, suspend an account or close it where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, or where we are required to by law or by our payment provider.

Content you post

You keep ownership of everything you post — profile details, event copy, images, messages. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting Connect3, including showing an event on discovery surfaces and in search results. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups or where we must keep records.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you post. Clubs in particular are responsible for the accuracy of their event listings, including dates, venues, prices, age restrictions and their own event terms.

Events and tickets

When you buy a ticket, your contract for the event is with the club running it. Connect3 provides the listing, the checkout and the ticket — the club provides the event.

Each club connects its own Stripe account to Connect3. Payment for a paid ticket is a destination charge: the funds settle into the hosting club’s connected Stripe account as the payment is made, and Connect3 never holds ticket revenue. The club is responsible for delivering the event, for its own event terms, for any tax it owes on ticket sales, and for deciding refunds.

A ticket is a revocable licence to attend the event it names, on the terms the club sets out on the event page. It is personal to the named attendee unless the club says otherwise. We may invalidate a ticket that was obtained fraudulently or through a payment that was later reversed.

Some ticket tiers are restricted to members of the hosting club. We check membership at the point of purchase against the club’s own membership records; if those records are wrong, the club is the one who can correct them.

Fees

Connect3 is free to use for browsing, for creating an account, and for free events. On a paid ticket we charge a processing fee of 2.0% + 30c. It is a platform service fee — what we charge for running the sale — and not a surcharge or a recovery of card processing costs. It is the same for every buyer and it does not vary with the payment method you choose.

The processing fee is shown to you on the event page and again at checkout, before you pay, and the total you are shown is the total we charge. The fee is calculated so that the club receives the ticket price in full: the club nets exactly the price it listed, and the processing fee is what sits on top.

Clubs pay no listing fee, no subscription and no fee at all on free events. Stripe may charge the club separately for its own account, and that is between the club and Stripe.

Refunds

Refunds are decided and funded by the club that ran the event, because that is where the money went. Our Refund Policy explains how that works, what happens to the processing fee, and what to do if an event is cancelled or changed. Nothing in it limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Clubs and organisers

If you run a club on Connect3, these additional terms apply to you:

  • You are the merchant of record for your ticket sales. You must complete Stripe's onboarding and keep your connected account in good standing — we cannot sell tickets for you until you do.
  • Your event listing must be accurate and must include any terms an attendee needs before buying, including your own refund terms where they are stricter than the default.
  • You must handle refund requests for your events promptly and in line with your published terms and the Australian Consumer Law.
  • You must handle attendee personal information — including the details collected at checkout — only for running your event, and in line with your own privacy obligations.
  • You are responsible for the tax treatment of your ticket sales, including any GST.

We may suspend an event or a club account where an event appears fraudulent, where refunds or chargebacks are not being handled, or where Stripe or a card network requires it.

Availability

We work to keep Connect3 available but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may take the platform down for maintenance. Where an outage prevents ticket sales for an event, we will do what we reasonably can to help the club recover — but we are not responsible for an event’s commercial outcome.

Liability and your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, our liability to you for a supply of services is limited to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having them resupplied.

Subject to that, Connect3 is not liable for the conduct of a club or another user, for an event that is cancelled, changed or does not meet your expectations, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the platform in any twelve-month period is limited to the processing fees you paid us in that period.

Ending your use

You can stop using Connect3 at any time and delete your account from your account settings. Deleting your account does not cancel tickets you have already bought or refund fees already paid, and it does not end obligations either of us has already incurred. We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that place.
